Lake Yojoa is one of Central America’s most active birding hotspots.
Experience birding on Lake Yojoa by rowboat or on a day trip around its shore. This is one of the most active birding hotspots in Honduras and, in fact, in Central America. We’ll start early in the morning with a fresh cup of local coffee, then work our way through the village down to a canal which passes through protected marshland. Travelling peacefully by rowboat, we’ll observe the region’s aquatic bird species as we approach a point that is home to numerous toucans.
For those who choose the full day birding experience, we’ll return to D&D for breakfast (included in tour price) before departing in private transport to other birding hotspots in the region, mostly on the northern side of the Yojoa basin. In addition to birding we’ll catch beautiful views of local woodland and nearby national parks. We’ll then have lunch somewhere around the lake depending on the season, followed by an afternoon trip to another regional hotspot (location changes depending on the season).
